It was the day after. The Love Bug had provoked several billion dollar losses the world over, and Dan Gillmor was pressed for time when rediff.com editor Nikhil Lakshman met with him at the offices of the San Jose Mercury News. Gillmor, the Mercury's celebrated chronicler of the digital life, nevertheless agreed to discuss what the meltdown on Nasdaq meant for the Internet, emerging trends on the WWW, the likely break-up of Microsoft and its consequences for the computer business and, of course, the ascent of Indian entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley.
