Market@April 13: Day's reportPanic loomed throughout the day. The market opened with a lower gap of around 4 per cent and plunged further. With Infosys opening at the lower circuit, technology stocks fell the hardest. Infosys, Global Tele, and Himachal remained locked at the lower circuit for most part of the day. NIIT and Aptech bucked the trend and showed a sharp recovery to gain 16 percent from the low in an intra day move. Among other prominent losers was Reliance which remained at the lower down circuit throughout the day. Selling pressure was also witnessed in most other pivotals like SBI, Ranbaxy, Telco, ACC, Reliance Petro and Gujarat Ambuja. Sensex down 257 points at 5169. Nifty down 70 points at 1522. Trading volumes were average and Satyam Computer, Zee Tele, DSQ Software, NIIT, and Sterlite accounted for more than 51 per cent. BSE Sensex
