Market@April 17: Day's report
For one more day, a sharp drop on Nasdaq badly affected values in the domestic market. Almost all the software stocks opened at lower circuit, and in most cases the circuit remained throughout the day.
The sentiment also had its impact on non-software stocks and a large number of pivotals too hit the lower circuit, and at the close, showed a substantial fall. ACC, Tisco, and Tata Tea however reported investment buying.
As a result of the down circuit in large number of stocks, the trading volume was extremely low, and touched a 5-month low. Reliance, L&T, ACC, Sterlite, and HLL topped the volume chart accounting for nearly 45 per cent of the total trading volume on the BSE.
Sensex down 293 points at 4879, Nifty down 75 points at 1443.
