Market@April 18: Day's report
A strong recovery on the NASDAQ failed to have any impact on values. Immediately after a firm opening, majority of software stocks witnessed huge selling and ended the day in negative territory. The overall sentiment was negative, and even non-software stocks also came under strong selling pressure.
Trading volumes were significantly higher in comparision of Monday. Himachal Futuristic, Satyam Comp, Infosys, Zee Tele, and Reliance Ind. topped the volume charts on the BSE accounting for 58 per cent of the total traded volume. Himachal Futuristic volume stood at 67.66 lakhs shares which was close to its all-time high, accounting for 24 per cent of total trading volume on the BSE in value terms.
Sensex down 136 points at 4745, Nifty down 16 points at 1417.
