Market@June 20: Day's reportSoftware stocks opened firm after a sharp rally at the Nasdaq on Monday. As a result of sustained buying, a large number of software stocks remained firm for a major part of the day. Pentamedia, Silverline, Sterlite, Rolta and HCL Tech were the strongest stocks. Sensex up 23 points at 4860. Nifty up 9 points at 1508. The pharma sector was also in demand, with a large number of stocks hitting the upper circuit of 12 per cent. The non-software segement remained firm for a major part of the day. The trading volume remained high on both exchanges and touched a 3-month high. Volumes in Global Tele touched an all-time high.
