Market@2 March: Day's report
Software stock were in demand today, but pivotals cracked. Sensex down 113 points at 5529. Nifty down 22 points at 1690.
Througout the day, software and some telecom stocks remained in great demand. As a result, a large number of stocks hit the upper circuit. Key stocks like Infosys, Satyam Computer, Himachal and Global Tele opened at the upper circuit and remained there for most of the day. In fact, it was Infosys which helped the Sensex.
While software saw good demand, cyclicals, pharma, and FMCG, especially the index-based counters saw a huge selling pressure. HLL, Reliance, L&T, Ranbaxy, Bhel, ACC and HPCL hit the lower circuit. The fall in Tisco, SBI, and Telco was also significant.
