Market@7 March: Day's report

Infosys, Global Tele, MTNL, ITC close at upper circuit. RIL, SBI weak, HLL moves sideways.

Sensex gains 65 points at 5585, Nifty gains 20 points at 1708.

While Infosys, and Global Tele remained at upper circuit througout the day, other software stocks showed a mixed trend. Among the heavyweights, ITC, and MTNL hit the upper circuit. HLL too showed a rally upto Rs 2600 but failed to sustain it, and showed a marginally higher close. Reliance, and SBI remained weak.

Meanwhile, Himachal Futuristic topped the volume chart at BSE at Rs 1,004 crore (20 pc of total volume). At the same time, Satyam Computers was at number two with Rs 741 crore (nearly 14 per cent of total BSE turnover). Pentamedia, and Zee turnover was over Rs 400 crore each.
