Market@May 8: Day's reportThe market opened firm as a large number of software stocks hit the upper circuit in the first 30 minutes of trading. However, sentiment turned bearish on account of selling at higher levels. Infosys led the downtrend as it hit the lower circuit. The selling gathered futher momentum during the second half of the day. Global Tele and Himachal were relatively strong. Among the pivotals, HLL, Reliance, and ITC remained weak. Sensex down 222 points at 4471. Nifty down 58 points at 1364. Overall, trading volumes were high. Satyam Computer, Infosys, Himachal, Zee Tele, and Global Tele topped the volume chart accounting for 60 per cent of total trading volume on the BSE. Infosys, DSQ Software and Wipro witnessed their record volumes. BSE Sensex
