Market@October 23: Day's report

Sentiment for the software stocks remained weak throughout the day. Himachal was the major loser losing more than 10 per cent. DSQ Soft also dipped more than 9 per cent. Global Tele, SSI, Wipro, Silverline and Satyam also dipped sharply.

Sterlite, Zee Tele and Digital Equipment were in demand. Sterlite was up 12 per cent, Digital gained 10 per cent and Zee Tele was up more than 2 per cent.

Non-software stocks were mixed. Reliance, ACC, Tisco, Ranbaxy and HLL remained under pressure. ITC and MTNL showed a mix trend trend.

Sensex down 73 points at 3619, Nifty down 27 points at 1145.
