Market@September 11: Day's report

The day started on a positive note but a large number of stocks came under strong selling pressure during the second half. Stocks like DSQ Soft, Satyam, Himachal and Silverline showed a sharp dip. Satyam dipped more than 4 per cent. Other stocks also came under strong selling pressure in the second half.

Sterlite was the star performer gaining 15 per cent. DSQ Soft, HCL Info and SSI recorded their all-time high volumes.

In the non-software segment, Reliance, Ranbaxy, BPL, Tata Tea and Indogulf Corp gained smartly. Reliance touched an all-time high of Rs 387. The combined volume on both the exchanges touched a record high of Rs 158.57 billion.

Sensex up 32 points at 4700, Nifty up 4 points at 1454.
