CBI allows BoI chief to go after questioning

The CBI on Wednesday denied that it had arrested the Assistant General Manager of Bank of India in connection with the Rs 1.37-billion pay-order scam and said he was picked up in Bombay only for questioning.

Highly-placed CBI sources had said on Tuesday that B H Somaiah had been taken into custody following his questioning.

"Somaiah was only picked up for questioning" and he had been allowed to go after his examination, a CBI official said.

Somaiah has already been suspended by the bank along with deputy chief manager Suvarna for "procedural violations".
