Market@May 10: Day's report

Market remained volatile for a major part of the day. After a weak trend during the first half, prices managed to recovery sharply during the mid-session.

However, the last half an hour saw huge selling and software stocks dipped sharply. Satyam lost 4 per cent and Zee was down 3 per cent. Global, Digital and NIIT gained more than 2 per cent each.

The banking stocks remained in great demand. SBI gained more than 6 per cent. Telco and Ashok Leyland also gained smartly during the last 15 minutes.

Sensex down 19 points at 3568. Nifty down 5 points at 1144.

Satyam, Wipro, Global, Infosys, Himachal.

Gainers: Between 7.9 per cent and 16 per cent
Fujitsu ICIM, GMDC, Shriram Honda, Tata Info, South Indian Bank, Sun Info.

Gainers: Between 5 per cent and 7.89 per cent
SBI, Ashok Leyland, KDL Bio, Gati Corp, IDBI Bank.

Losers: Between 7.9 per cent and 16 per cent
RS Software, Blue Dart, Infotech Ent, Anco Com, Pritish Nandy Communications.

Losers: Between 5 per cent and 7.89 per cent
Balaji Tele, Fourth Gen, Godrej Soap, Sierra Optima, Soffia Software, Adlabs Films.
