BJP MPs urges Sinha for rollback, excise cutBharatiya Janata Party members of Parliament on Tuesday mounted pressure on Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha to roll back "anti-middle class" Budget proposals, but he reminded them of the "dangerous" fiscal situation of the country. About 70 members who attended a 90-minute session with Sinha, demanded restoration of Income Tax rebate to the salaried class and rollback of excise duty on certain small scale sector items, party spokesman Vijay Kumar Malhotra told reporters. Sinha is likely to meet Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on the proposed changes in the Finance Bill on Wednesday, Malhotra said. After the meeting, Sinha said the members have made "significant" suggestions and they would be examined. He was however noncommittal on whether he would be rollling back tax proposals saying these would be said only in Parliament. ALSO READ:
