I was reading the transcript of the Colonial Cousins chat on Rediff and I discovered that they have no opinions to offer on the subject. I believe that unless you keep evolving, move above the much-wush, nothing much is going to come out of Hindi pawp!

ANYWAYS SUNEETA, WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF FIVE YEARS FROM NOW?...ON THE INTERNATIONAL SCENE?

Why is it that you Hindi pop singers only concentrate on one song in a entire album. Only a particular song is highlighted, the rest are lost, nobody even hears them? Why is this?

Where do you see yourself ten years from now? Do you think you will still be singing, conducting concerts that sort of thing?

Aksha: That's not necessarily true! Look at Alisha's albums!

SUNEETA: what pop singers inspire you? Whose footsteps do you want to follow?

How do you rate such famous pop singers of before as Nazia Hassan, Alisha, Sharon Prabhakar, etc.?

Suneeta: Do you think singers like yourself will ever have a wider appeal? To other peoples of Asia? Do you see any one of you or your peers becoming a Khalid or a Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan?

Subanna: Looks like you are in a better mood now. Anyway I plan to come abroad sometime in March so maybe we can meet up then and I'll try not to be late! Yes I'm a Telegu Brahmin. I feel Hindi pop has a future but only if all the artists make an effort to keep up a certain standard and I'm sure if you have heard my music you'll agree that it is certainly stands above the bubble gum mush wush Pawp!

To what would you say you owe your success?

SUNEETA: Some Indian pop singers have the attitude that "Let me make it big here and then I'll try doing 'international' or English albums. They, in other words, betray their initial audience of Hindi. What do you think on this issue and do you plan to continue singing exclusively in Indian languages?

Ram Tripathy: Good Question. Khaled and Nusrat have both been introduced to the market from outside India. They already have an international network. I'm hoping that my company will market my new product outside India and Asia since judging from my shows abroad my music seems to go down very well with mixed audiences.

This Mehnaz woman, who was here last night, I mean she is awful. ,And Alisha, I haven't heard anything execpt Made in India. Are there other songs on that album? I wish there were singers who plumbed the deepest recesses of the human condition. Do you think we will have a Joan Baez or a bob Dylan?

Suneeta: Would you confirm this fact that you got your initial training in music from your mother who is an awesome singer herself

How long did it take you to shoot this new video, Dehka Dehka?

WHY DO YOU HAVE THE SOUTH INDIAN INFLUENCE IN YOUR VIDEO..WHAT IS IT YOU ARE TRYING TO CONVEY THROUGH THAT?

So what you are saying is that Indian music companies do not have the inclination or the muscle to push your music abroad. Alisha's music did quite well in places like Iraq, so I don't see why Indian singers and music should not do well abroad. I think your songs and Lucky Ali's songs would certainly do well overseas.

SUBANNA: Alisha is THE QUEEN of Indian pop music. She has made many albums all diverse in the kind of music as well as the feeling emoted from them. Some of her more famous albums have been: The Babydoll of India, The Madonna of India, Kamasutra, Bombay Girl, Made in India, Born with A Wild Heart, and Jaadu. She's also done many filmi songs (none of which compare nearly to the quality of her pop songs besides for maybe "Sexy Sexy".)
