Rungta meets CBI team

The Board of Control for Cricket in India Thursday submitted to the Central Bureau of Investigation the requisite information regarding its constitution and functioning, and its stand on the match-fixing and betting scandal.

BCCI treasurer Kishore Rungta appeared before the agency around noon and had a meeting with the investigating team, headed by joint director R N Sawani. He was closetted with the investigating officials for about 50 minutes during which he reportedly clarified BCCI's stand on certain issues, CBI sources said.

The CBI team, during its meeting with BCCI president A C Muthiah, secretary J Y Lele and Rungta earlier this month, had asked the board to file a detailed report on its functioning and constitution, and position vis-a-vis match-fixing.

CBI sources said Rungta was also asked to place facts related to the financial strength of the board and its sources of income.
