Hearing on Manoj's bail plea adjourned
The hearing on the bail plea of former Test cricketer Manoj Prabhakar in a Nainital court was adjourned till Friday even as a police team from Indore
arrived in Haldwani to question him in connection with the chit
fund scam.
While the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Nainital, adjourned the bail hearing, arguments in Prabhakar's bail plea
in the court of the Judicial Magistrate, Haldwani, are continuing, Assistant Director General of Police Anil
Raturi said.
He said a police team from Indore arrived in Haldwani to
seek permission from the JM to question Prabhakar in the case.
The Indore police had filed an FIR against Prabhakar and
three others last year on the complaint of one Shreyas Singhal, who alleged that the four had duped him of over Rs 100,000.
The Uttaranchal police had alleged that Prabhakar, as
director of Apace, the chit fund company, had defrauded and cheated
people to the tune of crores of rupees.
Meanwhile, the condition of Prabhakar, who was admitted to
a private nursing home in Haldwani following suspected brain
stroke, is 'stable'.
"The swelling on the right side of his brain is
gradually subsiding but it would take 5 to 7 days for him to
fully recover," Dr. J S Khurana said.
He said Prabhakar has regained full consciousness.
Prabhakar was arrested by the Uttaranchal police from his
South Delhi office on Monday after non-bailable warrants were
issued by Judicial Magistrate Ashok Kumar in connection with
the chit fund scam.
