Prabhakar's bail application to be opposed

The Uttaranchal police will oppose the bail application of former India cricketer Manoj Prabhakar when it comes up for hearing before the Uttaranchal high court later this week.
Talking to rediff.com, Uttaranchal Director General of Police A K Saran said though the
cricketer has got temporary relief from the
Uttaranchal high court, by getting a three-week stay on
his arrest, the state police will present its case
when it comes up for hearing at the next date.
"The stay was granted without giving us an opportunity
to explain our case. The matter is coming up later
this week. We will go the court armed with our
investigation material and oppose his bail application,"
Saran said.
Asked about Prabhakar's claim that his deposits too are stuck with the Apace finance group, Saran
said they would have to be supported by
documents or returns filed by Prabhakar before the
income tax authorities.
"He can claim anything, but he will have to show
this. How is it that Prabhakar and Divya Nautial move
the high court the same day and get the same relief if
Nautiyal's firm owes him money? In any case, we are
carrying on with our investigations in the three cases
registered against him in Haldwani. We need him to
explain his conduct. If he had nothing to hide then
why did he not join the investigations in the first
place?" asked Saran.
When contacted on phone, Mrs Prabhakar said her husband is not likely to return to Delhi
until next week "because of the case which is coming up for hearing soon".
