Hearing postponed in Azhar's case

The hearing in the suit filed by former Indian cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin against the Board of Control for Cricket in India has been adjourned to July 12.

The main suit, and interlocutory applications, came up before the Second Additional Chief Judge, City Civil Court, on Monday. Judge J Syamsunder Rao was away on a week-long training session at the Andhra Pradesh Judicial Academy , however, necessitating the postponement.

Azhar had filed a petition challenging the life ban imposed on him by the BCCI in the aftermath of the CBI report into match-fixing in cricket. He had also filed an interim application questioning the appointment of K Madhavan as the BCCI 's anti-corruption commissioner, and a further application asking that his candidature for selection for the Hyderabad, South Zone and Indian teams be considered.

On April 20, the court had directed the BCCI to submit a report on its own internal inquiry into match fixing, conducted by Madhavan, and all othr relevant documents.

Azhar's counsel has been given till July 12 to file his response to the documentary evidence submitted by the BCCI.
