West Indies recall Jacobs and Collins

West Indies recalled wicketkeeper Ridley Jacobs and left-arm fast bowler Pedro Collins on Sunday for the third Test against India in place of Junior Murray and paceman Marlon Black.

Dinanath Ramnarine will be the only spinner in the 13-member squad after leg-break bowler Mahendra Nagamootoo sustained injuries in a road accident at Guyana earlier this month, a West Indies Cricket Board official said.

The third Test starts in Barbados on May 2. India won the second match at Port of Spain last week to take a 1-0 lead in the five-Test series.

Jacobs, who had been dropped for the first two games after a lacklustre performance against Pakistan at Sharjah earlier this year, scored an unbeaten 55 for the Busta XI in the ongoing three-day tour match here against India.

Wicketkeeper Murray had failed with the bat in all three innings of the series so far.

The 25-year-old Collins, from Barbados, has taken 20 wickets in eight Test matches.

Squad: Carl Hooper (captain), Stuart Williams, Chris Gayle, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Brian Lara, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ryan Hinds, Ridley Jacobs, Dinanath Ramnarine, Adam Sanford, Mervyn Dillon, Pedro Collins, Cameron Cuffy.
