Craig White joins England casualty list

England's injury problems mounted on Tuesday when all-rounder Craig White was ruled out of the third Test against India at Headingley after tearing an abdominal muscle.

The tear was revealed when White underwent a scan on Tuesday and he is expected to be out of action for between two to four weeks.

White, who made 94 not out in the drawn second Test at Trent Bridge, returned to the side in the first Test victory at Lord's and was recently named in the squad for the ICC Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka next month.

England have been struggling with injuries to key players with opener Marcus Trescothick and opening bowlers Darren Gough and Andy Caddick all sidelined.

Fellow all-rounder Andy Flintoff also underwent a scan on Tuesday on his injured groin and the England medical team is expected to reveal the results on Wednesday.

On Monday, England captain Nasser Hussain warned that Flintoff could miss the ICC Champions Trophy as a result of the injury.

There was better news for batsman John Crawley who will be available for the third Test after a scan revealed there was no cartilage tear in his left knee.

England's other injury concern, fast bowler Dominic Cork, will undergo a scan on Thursday on the knee he injured in the field during the Trent Bridge Test.

He will not play for Derbyshire in their four-day county championship match against Worcestershire starting on Wednesday.

The third Test of the four-match rubber at Headingley starts on August 22.
