Sehwag ruled out for Windies Test series

Dashing batsman Virender Sehwag will not be considered for selection for the five-Test series against the West Indies, as he has not recovered completely from the shoulder injury he sustained earlier this month.

Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Niranjan Shah said Sehwag's doctor, Yash Gulati, informed him that the dashing batsman will need another two weeks to regain complete fitness.

The Test team for the two-month West Indies tour, starting on April 2, will be announced on Thursday.

However, Gulati said Sehwag has shown "excellent progress" and would definitely be fit for the five-match one-day series, which begins on May 25.

"He has been undergoing physiotherapy exercises regularly and has been showing excellent progress. I gave him the fitness certificate yesterday but I cannot disclose its contents," Gulati said.

"I am sure he will be fit to play in the one-day series," he said.

Sehwag himself was not immediately available for comment.
