Adam Gilchrist gave Australia a rousing start, hitting 44 off just 30 balls. The Aussies went on to score 296 for 7 in the Group A Champions Trophy match against New Zealand. They then dismissed the Kiwis for 132, in 26.2 overs, and won by 164 runs.
