Australia vs New Zealand
Fifth ODI
Australia needed two runs off the last three balls to win the tri-series match against New Zealand. Brad Williams was on strike and Jacob Oram the bowler. The big Kiwi medium-pacer bowled a well-disguised slower ball. Williams had a wild swing at it and only managed to get a thick edge straight to wicketkeeper Brendon McCullum, who dropped a sitter.
Off the very next ball, Andrew Symonds was dropped for the second time in the match. A powerfully hit shot went straight to the fielder at short mid-wicket. Another catch dropped, and the batsmen crossed over for a single, which gave Australia victory.
