Well played, Sri!
Srinath made his name as an extremely dependable fast-medium bowler and in the mid-nineties assumed the mantle of India's spearhead. He has a decent strike rate in ODIs, but was not the most economical bowler in this form of cricket, especially at the death.
He never really had a consistent partner to share the new ball. In fact, he once even shared it with Sourav Ganguly! His performances would have certainly been better had someone given him good support at the other end.
But his performances in the last major tournament, the 2003 World Cup, before he bid adieu to the game were nothing short of brilliant. In 11 matches, the veteran bagged 16 wickets at an average of 23.06!
