  • Sachin Tendulkar got out to McGrath for the seventh time in his ODI career. Only Chaminda Vaas has dismissed him more often, while Heath Streak and Shaun Pollock have also dismissed Tendulkar seven times.

  • The catch of Tendulkar off McGrath was also Adam Gilchrist's 400th dismissal in ODIs - 355 catches and 45 stumpings. He was playing his 245th match. Gilchrist became first wicketkeeper to reach this landmark. South African Mark Boucher - with 331 dismissals - is distant second.

  • Shane Watson scored his second fifty in his two matches against India. Against all other opponents he has managed just two in 48 games!

  • Ricky Ponting, on scoring his 33rd run, completed his 1,000 runs in ODI matches on Indian soil. He became only the fifth non-Indian batsman to do so after Aravinda de Silva (1438 runs in 37 matches), Arjuna Ranatunga (1160 in 39), Michael Bevan (1018 in 28) and Carl Hooper (1008 in 31).

·         Ponting also became the leading run-scorer for Australia against India in ODIs. At the end of this match, Ponting's run-aggregate stands at 1369 (from 37 games), which takes him ahead of fellow teammate Adam Gilchrist, who has a tally of 1360 runs (from 33 matches).

  • In last 20 games between the two sides, India has won just three. The last time India defeated Australia was at Brisbane in a VB Series game in January 2004.

  • Martyn won his tenth man of the match award - his second against India. Martyn's other award had come at Mumbai in a TVS Cup match in 2003 where he made 100.

  • By winning this match Australia topped the Group A and will now meet New Zealand in the first semi-final at Mohali on November 1.
