Statistical highlights of the third day's play between India and Sri Lanka in the first Test at the SSC in Colombo on Friday.

# Zaheer Khan (37-2-156-2) produced his career's most expensive bowling figures on Friday. His earlier worst was 32-7-135-3 in the first innings at Faisalabad in 2005-06.

# Gautam Gambhir's 39 is his best knock against Sri Lanka in six innings, eclipsing his 30 at Ahmedabad in December 2005.

# After posting 97 against Zimbabwe at Harare in September 2005, Gambhir is without a fifty in his nine innings.

# Ajantha Mendis claimed his first Test wicket by dismissing Rahul Dravid.

# With Gautam Gambhir's  wicket, Muralitharan became the first bowler to capture 150 wickets at the SSC. His tally of 153 wickets at an average of 20.96 in 23 Tests at this venue is the highest by any bowler at one venue.

# Muralitharan, with Karthik's wicket, has equalled Anil Kumble's tally of most 'caught and bowled' dismissals (33). 

# Sri Lanka (600/6 wickets declared) was their second best score against India at SSC -- their highest being 610 for 6 declared in 2001-02.

# Overall, Sri Lanka have recorded 600 runs or more against India three times -- their highest being 952 for 6 declared at RPS, Colombo, in 1997-98.

# Four batsmen have recorded centuries in an innings for Sri Lanka three times -- the previous two instances were also at the SSC -- against India in 2001-02 and Bangladesh in 2007.

# Tillekeratne Dilshan's fifth hundred is his first against India in Test Cricket.

# Kumble, for the first time, has failed to take a wicket at the SSC.
