BJP urges EC to keep state ministers off MadhepuraThe Bharatiya Janata Party today urged Chief Election Commissioner M S Gill to debar all Bihar ministers from visiting Madhepura constituency on polling day on October 3 to ensure free and fair polls. In a memorandum to Gill, BJP spokesman K L Sharma said it was a big challenge before the Election Commission and the state administration to hold a free and fair election in Madhepura. He said the commission should arrange for video coverage and depute one election commissioner to the constituency for monitoring the polls. He also demanded rescheduling of the polls in Katihar where, he said, holding elections would be impossible because of the floods. He claimed the decision to hold elections in Katihar ''smacks of political pressure''. Expressing apprehension over the deployment of paramilitary forces in the sensitive and hyper-sensitive booths, the BJP vice-president said the state administration should be impartial. UNI
