Sharad Yadav threatens indefinite fastJanata Dal (United) president Sharad Yadav on Monday threatened to go on an indefinite fast from Tuesday unless polling in the Madhepura constituency was countermanded. Yadav alleged that the ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal activists had indulged in large-scale rigging in the constituency where he was pitted against former Bihar chief minister Laloo Prasad Yadav. If the Election Commission did not take action, he would be forced into an indefinite fast, he said. Yadav alleged that there were no security personnel in most of the booths. He claimed that the local authorities did not follow the EC recommendation that forces should be provided in all stations. The RJD activists, he continued, had rigged the polls ''in collusion with the district authorities.'' Genuine voters were obstructed from casting their votes, he added. He went on to say that all the RJD state ministers and legislators were present in the constituency even though the EC had directed the district authorities not to allow them in. UNI
