Leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party, including Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, on Thursday met and discussed the party's impressive performance in three states.

"The victories in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chattishgarh are an endorsement of NDA [National Democratic Alliance] policies by the people," party president M Venkaiah Naidu said after the meeting at the PM's 7, Race Course Road residence in New Delhi.

Asked whether the NDA would go in for snap polls to the Lok Sabha, Naidu replied in the negative. "The issue of midterm polls was not discussed and there is no such proposal."

Union Law and Justice Minister Arun Jaitley, who attended the meeting, said the general election would be held on schedule.

Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani and BJP general secretary Pramod Mahajan also attended the meeting.

Vajpayee and Naidu congratulated party workers and appreciated the efforts of Jaitley and Mahajan in MP and Rajasthan, respectively.
