Ajit Jogi suffered serious spinal injuries in a road accident last Sunday while campaigning and is now bed-ridden in Mumbai's prestigious Bombay Hospital.

Renu Jogi, who was an associate professor of ophthalmology in Raipur Medical College, a government-run institute, has resigned from the post.

Jogi supporters are making extensive use of audio and video addresses by Jogi in the constituency. The former chief minister is likely to record a video tape appealing for support from voters soon.

Sources in Raipur said senior Congress leaders like Motilal Vora and Arjun Singh may also be drafted for campaign duty in Mahasamund.
