Noted producer and writer Tajdar Kamal Amrohi on Wednesday joined the Congress party accusing the Sangh Parivar of launching a 'perpetual hate campaign' that had alienated a large section of the society.

He is the son of noted film producer and director Kamal Amrohi of Pakeezah fame.

"Congress is the only political force which can claim to be the representative of various castes, religions and linguistic backgrounds. I would indeed feel proud to be associated with this pristine movement," he said.

Party spokesman Kapil Sibal welcomed Amrohi into the party in the presence of CWC member in charge of Uttar Pradesh Chaudhary Virender Singh and UP party president Jagdambika Pal.

He also welcomed other entrants: former MPs Swami Sureshanand and Prakash Narayan Tripathi, three-time BJP MLA from Sonbhadra (UP) Tirath Raj.

Swami was elected from Jaleshar in Etah district while Tripathi was elected to the Lok Sabha from Banda in UP on a BJP ticket.

Both the former BJP MPs accused the BJP of being 'an opportunist party, which has nothing to do with Ram or Hindutva' and sought to know the fate of the crores of rupees collected for the construction of a Ram Temple at Ayodhya.
