Tamil Nadu bags lion's share in ministry

For the first time ever Tamil Nadu has bagged the lion's share in the Union council of ministers.

It has 12 berths in the United Progressive Alliance government headed by Dr Manmohan Singh which was sworn in today.

While the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam got as many as seven ministerships, the Congress party received three. The other partner in the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance in the state, the Pattali Makkal Katchi, received two berths.

Tamil Nadu now has five cabinet ministers, including three from the DMK. It has seven ministers of state, including four
from the DMK, one from the Congress and two from the PMK.
