The Supreme Court on Monday disposed of Bharatriya Janata Party leader and Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda's petition challenging Governor Syed Sibtey Razi's decision to invite Shibu Soren to form the government.

A division bench, headed by Chief Justice R C Lahoti, said in view of the developments that have taken place after the petition was filed, the 'petition has become infructuous and is disposed of'.

During the previous hearing, the court had ordered that the Shibu Soren government take up the trust vote in the assembly on March 11. But the ruling United Progressive Alliance members did not allow the conduct of the trust vote, forcing pro-tem speaker to postpone the exercise.

To avoid a conflict with the judiciary, the Centre had asked the Soren government to resign. Arjun Munda was then sworn in as the CM

The court said that certain constitutional issues raised in the petition would be dealt with at appropriate time while dealing with other cases.
