Downtrend continues; Nifty down four points to 949.65
Pivotals further declined on selling pressure by bull operators and lack of buying interest from institutional investors on the last day of the current settlement period on the National Stock Exchange today. Mirroring the bearish sentiment, the S&P CNX Nifty drifted lower by 4.20 points to 949.65 points from 953.85 points of the previous day. The CNX Nifty Junior slid by 20.40 points to 1696.75 points from 1717.15 points while the S&P CNX Defty eased by 4.10 points to 775.20 points. The S&P CNX 500 fell by 5.01 points to 660.79 points and CNX Midcap 200 edged down by 3.13 points to 596.62 points. The total turnover, involving 100.94 million shares in 306,761 trades was Rs 20.73 billion and the debentures traded were valued at Rs 9.69 million. Today, 362 securities advanced, 736 declined, 98 remained unchanged while 93 securities hit their price bands today.
