Equities move in narrow range; Nifty down 3.35 points to 954.30
Equities moved in a narrow range at the National Stock Exchange following lack of buying support from institutional investors and operators today. Reflecting the dull trend, the S&P CNX Nifty index opened at 954.70 points, touched the day's high of 962.60 points, fell to the day's low of 951.90 points before closing at 954.30 points, showing a net loss of 3.35 points as against the previous close of 957.65 points. The CNX Defty Junior declined by 16.15 points to 1692.70 points from the previous close of 1708.85 points. S&P CNX Defty ended lower by 2.75 points to 777 points as against the previous close of 779.75 points. The S&P CNX-500 and CNX Midcap-200 closed marginally lower by 0.80 and 4.04 points to 668.90 and 599.58 points from the previous close of 669.70 and 603.62 points respectively. Total turnover on the NSE reported during the day was Rs 14.38 billion, came from trading of 80.08 million shares in 237,049 trades. Debentures traded were valued at Rs 368.6 million. Today, 493 securities advanced, 582 declined, 95 remaining unchanged and 68 securities hit their price bands. UNI
