Pivotals opened on a buoyant note, declined marginally towards close on selling pressure from foreign institutional investors as well as domestic institutions on the National Stock Exchange today. Mirroring the downtrend, the S&P CNX Nifty which opened higher at 980.30 points ended at 961.20 points against 964.45 points of the previous day losing 3.25 points. The S&P CNX Defty also eased by 2.35 points to 783.85 points. However, the CNX Nifty Junior rose by 27.80 plints to 1669.95 points while the S&P CNX 500 edged up by 2.95 points to 667.73 points. The CNX Midcap 200 index appreciated marginally by 8.46 points to 591.59 points. Total turnover, involving 103.86 million shares in 297,579 trades, was Rs 26.98 billion. The turnover in debenture was Rs 2.18 million. Today, 460 securities gained, 569 lost while 94 remained unchanged while 97 shares hit their price bands today. FIIs and domestics institutions were net sellers today to the tune of Rs 363.3 million and Rs 114.3 million respectively.
