UP accords industry status to film sector, to spruce up NOIDA Film CityThe Uttar Pradesh government today granted the status of industry to the film sector. It also promised to upgrade the facilities at NOIDA Film City for film-making. The comprehensive film policy aims at developing the state as a major centre for film-making. The Cabinet meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Kalyan Singh. Under the provisions of the policy, film production as well as film theatres have been given the status of an industry. Besides, installation of air-conditioners, air-cooling plants and modern sound systems in the cinema halls will be exempted from entertainment tax. The policy also envisages setting up of a film city in private sector with ultra-modern facilities. The proposal has been accepted in principle and the required survey work would be started soon. UNI
