Infosys overwhelms Japanese PM

George Iype in Bangalore

"I am touched by Infosys's warm welcome," said Yoshiro Mori, the 62-year-old Japanese Prime Minister this morning. The Japanese prime minister is on a five-day visit to India.

"Infosys is an organisation with rare foresight and has soundly and logically outlined what the future would be like. I sincerely feel that Japan and India should develop complementary infotech solutions. We should develop an everlasting relationship," said Mori.

N R Narayana Murthy, the Infosys chairman, and Nandan Nilenkani, chief operating officer, were present to welcome the Japanese prime minister.

Mori also used the video-conferencing testing facility at the Infosys headquarters to speak with Tokyo.

Mori spent nearly half-an-hour at the Infosys headquarters and then left for Wipro, where he is expected to meet with Azim Premji, Wipro chairman.

Following his meeting with the Wipro chief, Mori is scheduled to address a business delegation in Bangalore. He will then leave for New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
