Market@June 1: Day's report

Software stocks showed a mixed trend and weak signals were evident in the second half. Stocks like Himachal and DSQ Software remained extremely strong whereas stocks like Wipro, Digital Equipment, NIIT and HCL Tech came under strong selling pressure. Cement and refinery stocks were also weak. However, ACC and L&T showed a sharp spurt in the last one hour of trading from their respective lows. ITC dipped and Reliance also weakened in the second half.

Meanwhile, Himachal, Satyam, Infosys, Global Tele and Zee Tele topped the volume charts accounting for 55 per cent of the total trading volume on the BSE.

Sensex down 107 points at 4325. Nifty down 31 points at 1349.
