Market@June 14: Day's report

Being the first day of the settlement on the NSE the market opened strong and a positive close on the Nasdaq also had its impact. Values remained mixed and during the second half, huge selling was witnessed in key software stocks.

However, SSI and Himachal were the strongest software stocks. SSI hit the 12 per cent upper circuit. Meanwhie the non-software segment remained dull for a major part of the day.

Sensex up 13 points at 4628, Nifty up 6 points at 1439.

Most active stocks
Himachal, Zee Tele, Satyam, Global Tele and Silverline topped the volume charts accounting for 54 per cent of the total traded volume on the BSE. Meanwhile SSI recorded all-time high volume.

Losers: Between 7.9 per cent to 12 per cent
Zee Tele, Fujistu, Tamil Newsprint, ICES Soft, Adarsh Der, Indswift, Synergy Log, Suven Pharma, Hitechi Jew, Orient Press.

Losers: Between 5 per cent to 7.9 per cent
