CII conference on VAT to discuss sales tax reformsThe Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organizing a two day National Conference on Value Added Tax (VAT) at Hotel Le Royal Meridien Madras February 9-10. Its objective is to bring the academic community who are involved in framing the VAT law, commissioners of various states, who are the implementers, the industry representatives who are the tax payers and leading advocates in the field of commercial taxes to speak about the advantages and issues in VAT. Some of the important topics to be discussed in the conference are international issues, conceptual issues, treatment of inter state sales, treatment of services and procedural issues. The transition from the existing system to VAT assumes extreme importance because of the changes in the accounting and monitoring procedures. For a successful transition it is imperative that the industry is fully aware of these changes. Minister of State for Finance G M Ramachandran, Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Member Planning Commission are among the eminent speakers who would be participating in the conference. Over 300 delegates including CEOs, CFOs and senior management personal from various industries would participate in this conference. |
