Background

  • Total domestic traffic during Apr-Nov 00 stood at 8.92 mn passengers against 8.17 mn passengers in Apr-Nov 99, a modest growth of 9.2%. The domestic aircraft kms flown was up nearly 9 % during the same period.

  • International passenger traffic flown during Apr-Nov 00 was up by 3.5 % at 2.54 mn passengers as against 2.45 mn passengers in the corresponding period of the previous year. .

Budget Expectations

The Government disinvestment program in the next fiscal year will determine the timings of privatisation of Indian Airlines and Air India.
