GAIL says LPG pipeline undamaged by quakeThe Gas Authority of India Ltd said on Friday that its 1,230 km LPG pipeline from western India to just north of New Delhi was undamaged by a powerful earthquake which struck western Gujarat. "There is no damage to the pipeline at all," GAIL executive director of projects B S Negi said. He said the company had reduced pressure in the pipeline since the quake and stopped the flow from the receiving terminal in Jamnagar. Built by GAIL at a cost of Rs 12.30 billion, the Kandla-Lone pipeline crosses Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh and has an annual capacity of 1.7 million tonnes. GAIL pumped the first LPG parcel in the pipeline on October 23 after it commissioned in August the dispatch terminal at Reliance Petroleum's 27-million-tonne (540,000 barrels per day) refinery in Jamnagar.
