Balco strike may end on FridayThe two-month-old strike at the Bharat Aluminium Company Limited plant at Korba is expected to be called off on Friday. The crucial talks for resolving the crisis will be held on Friday at Korba. The agitating trade unions are likely to consider the Supreme Court's query whether the workers are willing to resume their duty on assurance of advance payment by the management. The chances of ending the strike had brightened after the intervention of the apex court. The Balco management has said that it had filed an affidavit before the SC stating that no worker would be retrenched even though the shareholders agreement allows it to do so after a year. Thousands of workers are on strike since March 2 when the government transferred 51 per cent of its equity in Balco along with management control to Sterlite Industries. The workers had received an overt support from Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi. UNI ALSO READ:
