Thakre files nomination for BJP chief's postVeteran Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kushaubhau Thakre has filed his nomination papers for the party's presidential election, scheduled for April 20. His nomination was proposed by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and party president and Union Home Minister Lal Kishinchand Advani. Several senior BJP leaders have endorsed his nomination. Party sources said no one else is likely to file nomination papers for the election and Thakre's election will be unanimous. April 14 is the last date for filing nomination and scrutiny will take place on the same day at 1530 hours. Withdrawal of nominations will take place the next day. Polling, if necessary, will take place at all state capitals on April 20 and counting will be taken up on April 24. After filing his papers, Thakre said, ''Many senior leaders have joined the Union Cabinet. Therefore, we have to look for a new leader.'' He said there would not be any major changes in the party's policies just because a new person takes over the president's post. UNI
