Janata Dal to support RPIIn a significant development, the Janata Dal has announced the party's support to the Republican Party of India's candidates, an electoral ally of the Congress in Maharashtra, in Akola, Chimur and Amrawati constituencies in Vidarbha. Janata Dal state unit spokesman Kapil Patil said his party has decided to support the RPI candidates irrespective of its alliance with the Congress. However, the Dal has nothing to do with the RPI's alliance with the Congress. As for the reports about the Congress-Samajwadi Party tie-up in Maharashtra, Patil said the United Front had sought clarifications from the SP. UNI |
