CPI announces 4 names for LS pollThe Communist Party of India, a constituent of the ruling Communist Party of India-Marxist-led Left Democratic Front, has announced its candidates for four Lok Sabha seats and three by-elections to the state assembly. The CPI had contested four Lok Sabha seats in the previous election. The three by-elections to the sate assembly were necessitated following the death of sitting MLAs. K V Surendranath and M V V Raghava, the sitting MPs from Thirvananthapuram and Thrissur, will contest from the respective constituencies again. Chengra Surendran will be the candidate for the Adoor (scheduled caste) Lok Sabha seat. The candidate for the Ponnani Lok Sabha seat would be decided later, state secretary P K Vasudvan Nair said today. Following are the candidates for the assembly by-election: U S Sasi (Mala), P Narayanan (Vaikam) and N Anirudhan (Chattanoor). UNI |
