Three Union ministers, one CM chargesheeted in Babri masjid demolition caseThree Central ministers and one chief minister have been chargesheeted in the Babri mosque demolition case, Home Minister L K Advani told the Rajya Sabha today. In a written reply, he said the court had, however, not yet framed charges against them and all of them were on bail. In another reply, Advani said with the local militancy on the wane, Pakistan-sponsored militant outfits have been making efforts to induct more foreign mercenaries, including some belonging to Afghanistan, to carry out militant activities in Jammu and Kashmir. The action taken by the government to tackle militancy include sustained anti-terrorists operations by the police and the security forces, including intensive patrolling on the border, LoC and hinterland, establishing pickets in vulnerable areas, strengthening of state police/intelligence network and coordination of the security arrangements among various agencies. Advani told another questioner that the north-eastern council was proposed to be reconstituted with the inclusion of Sikkim and the appointment of the deputy chairman of the Planning Commission as its chairperson. The requisite bill would shortly be moved before Parliament. The Centre proposed to issue multi-purpose photo identity cards to all citizens, he said in another reply. UNI |
