Congress accuses Shekhawat of 'cajoling' his rival to retireThe opposition Congress in Rajasthan has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against Chief Minister Bhairon Singh Shekhawat saying he was trying to 'cajole' his rival Congress candidate in Bali constituency to retire from the contest. In a letter to the Election Commission, Congress leader Sudhir Sawant has alleged that Shekhawat was using the Gujarat government's influence to persuade the party candidate Ummed Singh Champawat to retire. He said Champawat has a business unit in Gujarat. In his complaint, the Congress leader said the candidate had requested the Election Commission to intervene to stay the penalty imposed by the Gujarat government on him. UNI |
