Joshi gives Jaymala Rs 25,000Maharashtra Chief Minister Manohar Joshi has announced a compensation of Rs 25,000 towards the medical expenses of Jaymala Asher, the college girl who lost both legs after a mugger pushed her out of a running train. Information and Publicity Minister Pramod Navalkar handed over the money to Jaymala at the B Y L Nair Hospital, while Director General of Police Arvind Inamdar contributed Rs 1,001. The state police gave Rs 5,001. Minister of State for Railways Ram Naik also visited the girl. He assured her parents that all medical expenses would be borne by the railways, which has already given her an ex-gratia of Rs 5,000. The expenses for her immediate education and artificial legs will also be borne by the railways. Naik said he has called an emergency meeting with top police, state and railway officials to discuss the law-and-order situation on suburban trains. UNI |
